Reels that sell, on a small budget
A phone, a window and a script beat an expensive camera with nothing to say.
The best-performing short videos we see from local brands rarely have the biggest budgets. They have a clear first second, a real person, and one idea.
Start with the hook: show the result before the process. The finished dish, the glowing skin, the delivered parcel. Then explain how you got there in three or four quick cuts.
Light matters more than lenses. Shoot next to a window in the morning and your phone will look better than a cinema camera in a dark room. Record clean audio with a cheap clip-on microphone; people forgive grainy video, never bad sound.
Finally, shoot for the format. Frame for 9:16 from the start, keep text away from the edges where buttons sit, and caption everything, because most people watch on mute.
